INFORMAL REVIEW PROCESS

GOVERNMENT  >  TOWN of palmyra ASSESSOR  >  INFORMAL REVIEW PROCESS

The informal assessment review process is usually done in March, as condition of the property for assessment purposes is as of the 1st of March.

The informal assessment review process allows owners to submit documentation to the Assessor for review of their property's assessment. An interior and/or exterior inspection may be requested by the owner or by the Assessor's Office.  The Assessor will review the information and notify the owner of a decision.

When looking for comparisons for your home please note the following:

  • Town property compares only to Town property.

  • Village property compares only to Village property.

  • Look for homes of the same or similar style, for example:  Ranches compare only to ranches, old style only to old style.  Cape Cods, Colonials, Split Levels and Raised Ranches may be used as comparables to each other IF there are not enough of any one style to compare to.

  • Try to stay around the same age and size.

If you are not satisfied with the results, you may file a formal complaint with the Board of Assessment Review.
