Palmyra is a town in southwest Wayne County, New York, with a population 7,975, according to the 2010 census, up from 7,672 in 2000. The town is named after the ancient city Palmyra in Syria.

The Village of Palmyra is located within the Town of Palmyra and holds roughly half of the overall Town population. Palmyra is located about 20 miles southeast of Rochester, NY along the banks of the historic Erie Canal.

The Town and Village of Palmyra are governed by an elected executive (Town Supervisor and Village Mayor) and elected Boards of Trustees.
